asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many schemes under Section 58 for improvement to statutory small holdings he has approved during each of the past three years.

185 schemes in the year ended 31st March, 1956, and 104 in each of the two subsequent years.

Mr. Dye

Does the right hon. Gentleman think that progress of improvements to statutory small holdings is fast enough? As he is recommending others to improve their farms, cannot he get on faster with county council small holdings?

Mr. Hare

I will study what the hon. Gentleman says, but we have considered these matters with great care.
