HC Deb 03 December 1958 vol 596 cc1163-4
11. Mr. Brockway

asked the Minister of Labour what recommendations have been made by the Industrial Health Advisory Committee of his Department regarding the extension of laboratory facilities for industrial hygiene testing.

Mr. Wood

The Industrial Health Advisory Committee has appointed a subcommittee to collect and assess information as to the needs in this field, and to consider how such needs can best be met.

Mr. Brockway

While thanking the Parliamentary Secretary for that Answer, may I ask whether he has knowledge of the three pioneer laboratories at Slough which are examining the effects on health of noise and heat and dust in factories? If he has that information, could not it be incorporated in some national plan in order to carry out research into industrial diseases to try to prevent them?

Mr. Wood

I should very much like to consider the hon. Gentleman's suggestion. I will do so.
