HC Deb 03 December 1958 vol 596 cc1181-2
33. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Labour what new arrangements have been made in employment exchanges to keep a record of Commonwealth immigrants who may be unemployed.

Mr. Wood

No special records are at present Kept of unemployed Commonwealth immigrants who register at employment exchanges. My right hon. Friend is considering whether records of this kind should be kept to enable the Ministry to provide such unemployment statistics as may be necessary.

Captain Pilkington

Does my hon. Friend anticipate that it will be difficult to make such arrangements?

Mr. Wood

I think it would certainly be possible if it were seen to be desirable.
