HC Deb 28 April 1958 vol 587 cc4-5
7. Mr. Palmer

asked the Paymaster-General if he will make available to the House a summary of those matters concerning the relationship of the United Kingdom to the European Coal and Steel Community which have been the subject of consultation between the Minister and the Iron and Steel Board since the coming into effect of the Iron and Steel Act, 1953.

Sir I. Horobin

The Iron and Steel Board was consulted by the Government at all stages leading up to the signature in December, 1954, of the agreement setting up the Council of Association between the United Kingdom and the European Coal and Steel Community. Since then the British representatives on the Council of Association have included a member of the Iron and Steel Board. The first Annual Report issued by the Council of Association and the three Annual Reports so far issued by the Iron and Steel Board will, I think, give the hon. Member any more detailed information he desires.
