§ 21. Mr. Mossasked the Minister of Labour what steps he will take to collect and disseminate in this country informa- 148 tion on foreign apprenticeship systems; and whether he will include hon. Members among those receiving such information.
§ Mr. WoodArticles on foreign apprenticeship schemes appear from time to time in the publications of the International Labour Office which are available in this country, and my Department has information regarding schemes in certain countries. I should be glad to help any hon. Member who wants to have information on any particular arrangements. In recommending the establishment of a National Apprenticeship Council, the report "Training for Skill" suggested as one function of such a council the collection and dissemination of information to industry on apprenticeship and training arrangements both in this country and abroad.
§ Mr. RossThat puts me in a difficulty, because I have put down a Question concerning the Apprenticeship Council. Is not it a fact that paragraph 18 of the Report of the Carr Committee recommended that somebody should collect and disseminate information, not merely by means of articles in magazines? What is the Minister doing about this?
§ Mr. WoodI understand that the recommendations in the Report to which the hon. Member refers are being studied by the National Joint Advisory Council and I shall look forward on a future occasion to answering the hon. Member's Question on the subject.
