asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will state the number of vacation courses and lectures that have been given in 1957 by the Department of Extra-Mural Studies of Makerere College, in Uganda, Kenya, Tanganyika and Zanzibar; and how many lecturers are employed at the present time in those Territories.

While thanking my right hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask him if he is aware that when I was out in the Territories I was most impressed with the work I saw, and that I hope he will do all he can to encourage it?

Would the right hon. Gentleman kindly circulate the information in the OFFICIAL REPORT, as there are also other hon. Members who would like to know about the very valuable work that is going on there?
