HC Deb 31 October 1957 vol 575 c391
40. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a further statement on the present position with regard to port development in Gibraltar, and the prospects for the future in this respect.

Mr. Profumo

A Colonial Development and Welfare scheme has now been made for £300,000, as Her Majesty's Government's contribution towards the cost of this project. Letters have recently been exchanged between the Gibraltar Government and the oil company principally concerned and it is hoped that final details will soon be settled between them. Principles to govern what should go into the lease between the Admiralty and the Gibraltar Government have also now been agreed.
