asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will make a statement on the progress being made at Gatwick Airport.

Mr. Watkinson

Progress has been satisfactory. While I cannot as yet give a firm date for completion, all concerned are working to the target of April, 1958, and I am assured that the airport will be ready as planned for next summer's operations.
