§ 5. Mr. Brockwayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when the report of the inquiry into the application of the Buckinghamshire County Council and the Slough Borough Council for the acquisition of the Hawker Airfield at Langley for housing purposes is expected; and when he hopes to be in a position to give his decision on this matter.
§ Mr. BevinsThe public local inquiry, which took three days, was held only a month ago, and the Inspector's report has just been received. My right hon. Friend will give his decision as quickly as he can.
§ Mr. BrockwayWould the hon. Member whisper to his right hon. Friend that there is great urgency in this matter because of the housing needs of Slough? Secondly, will he also whisper to him that if there is a thought of devoting this 966 airfield to nuclear research, less crowded areas should be sought for that purpose than Slough, which is in need of housing development?
§ Mr. BevinsYes. My right hon. Friend and myself are always talking to each other. There will be no lack of consultation.
