HC Deb 11 November 1957 vol 577 c589
17. Captain Pilkington

asked the Paymaster-General how coal production so far this year compares with 1956 and with the estimated production.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Power (Mr. David Renton)

Total output to 2nd November was 188.6 million tons, compared with 186.5 million tons in the comparable period of 1956. This year's output is likely to be almost exactly what was estimated when the year started.
