HC Deb 28 May 1957 vol 571 c210
39. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Minister of Labour how many employees of the Suez contracting companies have applied to his officers for other employment owing to events in Egypt; and with what result.

The Minister of Labour and National Service (Mr. fain Macleod)

Separate statistics of British subjects from Egypt who were employees of Suez contracting companies have not been maintained. So far, 2,121 British subjects from Egypt have registered for employment. Of these 842 have been found work by my Department. In addition a number have found their own employment, and some have emigrated. At 17th May, 475 men and women were still awaiting placing.
