30. Mr. H. Wilsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the widespread interest and concern about the work of the Radcliffe Committee on financial policies and techniques, he will ensure that the Committee publishes its evidence as taken, following the practice of the Macmillan Committee on the same subject.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftA full record of the evidence taken will be published with the Committee's Report. In this the practice of the Macmillan Committee will be followed, as the right hon. Gentleman suggests.
Mr. WilsonI have not myself checked in the case of the Macmillan evidence, but is it not a fact that during the hearings of the Macmillan Committee the evidence was published as it 205 was taken, after a short interval, instead of people having to wait until the final publication of the Report? Would it not be of very great interest to many people in this country who are following the work of the Committee with great interest if this information could be made available, instead of their having to wait eighteen months or two years for the whole of it to be published with the final Report?
§ Mr. ThorneycroftI thought that the evidence was published with the final Report, but I will have a look at that question.
