HC Deb 15 May 1957 vol 570 c385
33. Mr. Russell

asked the Postmaster-General approximately how many stamps, are contained, when they are full, in stamp machines provided outside post offices; and if he will instruct postmasters to see that machines are full before post offices close on Saturdays.

Mr. Marples

Stamp-selling machines are charged with rolls of 240, 480, 960, or 1,920 stamps, according to the use made of them.

A machine should contain enough stamps to keep it working when the post office is closed. Postmasters have clear instructions about this; and if the hon. Member will let we know of any difficulties he has had I will gladly have inquiries made.
