HC Deb 15 May 1957 vol 570 c379
6. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty in how many instances since the start of the last war requests for courts-martial have been refused in the Royal Navy.

Mr. Soames

An officer in the Navy cannot demand a trial by court-martial as of right, so there is no record of cases in which individual officers may have asked for one and been refused.
