HC Deb 15 May 1957 vol 570 c389
29. Mr. G. Darling

asked the Postmaster-General what proposals he has for the appointment of a committee to inquire into the present organisation of sound and television broadcasting and to make recommendations for future developments.

Mr. Marples

None, Sir, at present.

Mr. Darling

If, as was stated in reply to a previous Question, the Government are considering setting up a committee to inquire into this matter, could we have a discussion in the House to cover the terms of reference which I mentioned before and generally to consider broadcasting policy, as a result of which a committee could be set up to deal with the technical questions and so on?

Mr. Marples

The question of discussion in the House is not a matter for me but for the Leader of the House.
