HC Deb 15 May 1957 vol 570 c406
66. Mr. Peyton

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement on the memorandum submitted to him in June, 1956, by British subjects of all races in Malacca; and what reply he has made to that memorandum.

Mr. Profumo

This memorandum was in fact submitted not to my right hon. Friend but to the Constitutional Commission which was then at work in Malaya. I am sure that the Commission gave full consideration to the contents of the memorandum when drafting its Report.

Mr. Peyton

Is my hon. Friend aware that some of the people who were responsible for that memorandum are now in this country? I very much hope that my right hon. Friend will give consideration to any representations which they may make.

Mr. Profumo

I am sure that my right hon. Friend will give consideration to such representations.
