asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he has now received a letter from the Bedworth Urban District Council, dated 3rd May, 1957, regarding the National Coal Board and dust nuisance; and what he has replied.

Yes, Sir. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of my reply to the council.

Mr. Bowles

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether that reply indicates that my constituents' furniture, houses, lungs and food will cease to be covered and damaged by coal dust blown across from this coal dump?

Mr. Brooke

The reply indicates that the council is mistaken in thinking that Section 22 of the Clean Air Act is applicable to the matter, but it also points out that the council itself has certain powers under Part III of the Public Health Act, 1936.
