HC Deb 13 May 1957 vol 570 cc29-30
46. Captain Pilkington

asked the Prime Minister what information he has received from the President of the United States of America as to the activities of the United States Sixth Fleet and other forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in the Mediterranean.

The Prime Minister

This matter has been the subject of communication through the appropriate channels.

Captain Pilkington

Has there been any explanation from the American Government of why they should consider armed intervention by England and France in 1956 wrong and the threat of it by themselves in 1957 right?

The Prime Minister

No, Sir, but I do not think that that arises from this Question.
