44. Mrs. Whiteasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when it is proposed to publish the Report on agricultural wages in Kenya.
46. Mrs. Whiteasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when it is proposed to publish the Report on social security in Kenya.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am afraid that I cannot as yet add to the replies which I gave on 13th March to the hon. Member for Govan (Mr. Rankin) and the hon. Member for St. Pancras, North (Mr. K. Robinson).
Mrs. WhiteIs the right hon. Gentleman not aware that we have been waiting 955 for a very long time for both Reports, and that both deal with matters of fundamental importance in Kenya? Further, is he aware that a member of the Kenya Legislative Council himself said that the Report on security in old age might itself die of old age before it was published?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydIt is precisely because they are of such importance that the Reports are being given such careful consideration. I can assure the hon. Lady that there is no dragging of feet here; it is really the serious study of the Reports which alone is holding up publication of them. I trust that it will not be long delayed.
§ Mr. RankinWill the Secretary of State assure us that we shall not need to wait as long for the Report on agricultural wages in Kenya as we did for the nutrition Report from Kenya?
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am afraid I do not carry the relevant dates in my head.
