asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what proposals have been made by the United Kingdom or Nigerian Government to develop industry in Nigeria and the Cameroons on the basis of the recent increased output of coal.

Both the Federal and Regional Governments of Nigeria pursue a policy of industrialisation. This has resulted in an increasing internal demand for coal which, with exports, is more than keeping pace with the increasing output of coal.
