§ 12. Mr. Isaacsasked the Minister of Labour what result has been obtained by the Borough Employment Exchange in its efforts to recruit workers for the coal mines.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodSince the beginning of the year, the Borough Employment Exchange have submitted forty-six men for work in coalmining, of whom thirteen have been accepted.
§ Mr. IsaacsIn view of the locality in which the Borough Employment Exchange is situated, and in view of the results obtained, would not the Minister consider that the staff there are entitled to better accommodation? Secondly, is he able to say how many of these workers have been recruited in the Borough of Westminster?
§ Mr. MacleodI cannot answer the second part of the right hon. Gentleman's Question without notice, but I should be very glad to go into the figures. It is true that this is a very good result, and I believe that the National Coal Board has written especially to the manager of the local exchange to congratulate him.
