§ 35. Mr. John Hallasked the Secretary of State for War if the gross amount in pay and allowances paid to British officers and other ranks serving with the Ghana military forces is recovered in full from the Ghana Government.
§ Mr. John HareYes, Sir.
§ Mr. HallIf this amount is recovered in full from the Ghana Government, does it not mean that that sum is wholly earned in Ghana and that, therefore, British officers and other ranks should be entitled to pay the Income Tax in Ghana and not at the much higher United Kingdom rates?
§ Mr. HareAs I think my hon. Friend realises, when civilians are employed by the Ghana Government they pay Ghana taxes, but when military personnel are seconded they remain directly in the employment of Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom.
