HC Deb 25 March 1957 vol 567 c776
5. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Minister of Supply what is the cost of a guided missile.

Mr. Aubrey Jones

The cost depends on the type of weapon concerned and the number produced and can be anything from about £3,000 upwards.

Mr. Hughes

Is the Minister aware that in the United States they are given far more information about these things than in the Press of this country? Is he aware that the figure in the New York Times recently was £20,000 for a missile and not £3,000? Why did the right hon. Gentleman remember £3,000 and not £20,000?

Mr. Jones

If my Answer appeared vague to the hon. Gentleman, it was related to the Question, which was equally vague.
