HC Deb 07 March 1957 vol 566 c507
2. Sir R. Boothby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to receive the report of the Departmental Committee on Homosexuality and Prostitution.

Mr. Simon

I would refer my hon. Friend to the Answer given by my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary to the hon. Member for Dartford (Mr. Sydney Irving) on 7th February.

Sir R. Boothby

Is it not the fact that the evidence was concluded last year? What is the reason for this quite extraordinary delay?

Mr. Simon

I understand that the Committee is working on the draft of its report. But it is an important matter and my right hon. Friend is satisfied that it would be unwise to press the Committee to give less than the consideration it thinks necessary to this important and controversial topic.
