HC Deb 07 March 1957 vol 566 cc521-2
42. Mr. N. Pannell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will authorise the demolition of an air-raid shelter at Nos. 5 and 7, Kirkdale Vale, Liverpool, of which he has been advised, which is built over surface drains to the inconvenience of the tenants.

Mr. Simon

Yes, Sir. I am informed that the drains could be put right at no great cost, but that, as the wife of the occupier of No. 5, Kirkdale Vale is nearly blind, the existence of the shelter in the backyard is peculiarly inconvenient. My right hon. Friend is authorising the demolition of the shelter for this reason.
