HC Deb 24 July 1957 vol 574 cc411-2
35. Mr. Moss

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what conclusions he has now reached to improve the safety of Watling Street at Grendon in the County of Warwick; and what action will be taken on the basis of such conclusions.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (Mr. G. R. H. Nugent)

I cannot yet say when a scheme for widening the whole length of this road can be included in our programme, but we are considering whether it may be practicable in advance to build a short length of dual carriageway at the Boot Inn junction at Grendon. Meanwhile we are arranging for the erection of special signs warning motorists of the danger of overtaking here and the local council can also help by pressing ahead with arrangements to improve street lighting.

Mr. Moss

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that his reply will give great satisfaction to the local inhabitants of Grendon?
