HC Deb 15 July 1957 vol 573 cc755-6
35. Lady Tweedsmuir

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has yet considered the claims of fishermen for gear damaged by Russian vessels; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Amory

These claims have been examined and my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs is transmitting them to the appropriate Soviet authorities.

Lady Tweedsmuir

In view of the fact that there has as yet been no reply from the Russian authorities to the representations made by the Foreign Office on behalf of Scottish fishermen, will my right hon. Friend see that those claims which he has mentioned are transmitted with a sense of urgency?

Mr. Amory

They are on their way at the present time.
