HC Deb 10 July 1957 vol 573 cc362-3
12. Mr. Harold Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs under what agreement British planes have taken part in exercises over South Vietnam.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

British aircraft have never taken part in military exercises over South Vietnam.

Mr. Davies

If can produce an account and some evidence of aircraft having taken part in exercises over South Vietnam, will the right hon. and learned Gentleman investigate to see if it is really true?

Mr. Lloyd

I will certainly investigate any matter. I wonder whether the hon. Gentleman is perhaps thinking of an occasion when four Royal Air Force Venom aircraft made a courtesy visit and gave a display of aerobatics over Saigon City.
