§ 20. Mr. Simmonsasked the Minister of Labour if he is yet in a position to state his intentions in respect of the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry on the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons.
§ Mr. CarrI am not yet able to make a statement, but consideration of the Committee's recommendations is going on steadily.
§ Mr. SimmonsIs it not a fact that of the 46 recommendations half concern the Ministry of Labour? There were the results of nearly four years' hard work in this Report. Will the Minister make representations that the House should be given an opportunity of discussing the Report? It seems a pity that four years' hard work is being brushed off with a Question and Answer.
§ Mr. CarrI can assure the hon. Member that it is certainly not being brushed off, but the fact that there are four years' 834 hard work in the Report means that there is a lot to consider. The consideration is going on urgently. The National Advisory Council on this subject met on 13th December. It referred specific recommendations to specialist committees and is meeting again in March to consider the comments of those committees.
