HC Deb 28 February 1957 vol 565 c1365
Sir F. Markham

I beg to ask leave to present a Petition signed by nearly every adult in the area of the Bletchley Urban District Council, that is to say, by 10,225 persons, to show that there is urgent need for consideration to be given to the improvement of hospital and health services in this area, especially considering that during the last few years the population has increased from 6,000 to 13,500, and that by 1961 the urban district will have a population of over 20,000, and there are no hospital or diagnostic facilities nearer than Aylesbury. The Petition continues: Wherefore, your Petitioners pray your Honourable House that the most urgent consideration he given to the need of Bletchley for hospital and health services with a view to the immediate provision of a diagnostic and out—patient centre, the provision of a maternity hospital, and the inclusion of full hospital facilities in the long-term programme for the district. And your Petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray.

To lie upon the Table.
