§ 14. Mr. Bellengerasked the Minister of Defence whether he envisages the inauguration of closer joint staff training between the Services.
§ Mr. SandysI should be glad of any suggestions from the right hon. Gentleman for further improving the present excellent arrangements.
§ Mr. BellengerI shall be glad to give the right hon. Gentleman any advice which I possibly can; but is it not his duty as a Minister of the Crown himself to take the initiative, particularly in view of the fact that in the future, probably the very near future, there will have to be a closer integration of the Services because of the weapons which they will use, and therefore the staffs themselves should start by having closer staff college training than at the moment?
§ Mr. SandysThe right hon. Gentleman, as a former Secretary of State for War, knows full well the very extensive arrangements which already exist, the various colleges and specialist schools, etc., for this precise purpose. But, as I say, I shall be very happy to consider any further suggestions which he may have in mind.
