§ 54. Miss Burtonasked the Paymaster-General whether he is aware that many people would like to save some of their petrol for use over the Easter holiday; and if he will now arrange for the fourth month's coupons to be valid for the first month of the new period.
§ 59. Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Paymaster-General whether, in view of the petrol offered to British visitors to attract them to the Continent, he will make an announcement in the near future regarding a supplementary petrol ration for British people taking their summer holidays in Great Britain so that they may stay at country hotels in this country, especially those in remote districts not served by public transport and so assist the home trade which is essential if these hotels are to be kept open for overseas visitors.
§ Mr. MaudlingAs I announced last Wednesday, motorists may use their first period coupons throughout April. A decision about extra petrol for the summer period depends on further information about petrol supplies.
§ Miss BurtonAs the Paymaster-General will be aware, this Question has on the Paper for some time. May I take advantage of the chance to ask him whether, in view of his past capacity as Minister of Supply and his present one as deputy to the Minister of Power, he will try to see that any works undertaken under the atomic energy programme cover Coventry, which has been very badly hit by petrol rationing?
§ Mr. MaudlingThat supplementary question hardly arises from this Question.
