HC Deb 12 February 1957 vol 564 cc1058-9
19. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for War how many of the Greek or Cypriot witnesses in the Linzee court-martial have since been implicated in terrorist activities.

Mr. J. Amery

None, Sir. My hon. and gallant Friend may have seen that out of the 29 witnesses, 4 Greek Cypriots were at one time suspected of sympathy with terrorists, but this is no longer so.

Mr. Hector Hughes

Can the Minister say what effect, if any, subsequent events had on the convictions at the courtmartial—were any convictions reversed, or what effect had they?

Mr. Amery

I think that that raises another question.
