asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the value of Egyptian Government assets in the United Kingdom which he is holding as security for British stores and equipment in Egypt.

I would refer my hon. Friend to the replies which I gave on 31st January to my hon. Friend the Member for Blackley (Mr. E. Johnson) and to the hon. Member for Islington, East (Mr. E. Fletcher).

Is not that Answer very inconclusive, and is my right hon. Friend quite content to see Egyptian assets leaving this country, so that the British taxpayer will be left with the burden to bear, as usual?

Of course, the situation itself is rather inconclusive at the moment.
