HC Deb 05 February 1957 vol 564 cc226-7
20. Sir A. Gomme-Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he proposes to take on the agreed proposals on deer in Scotland submitted to him by the interested parties.

Lord John Hope

The joint report is being considered. It has been discussed with the Nature Conservancy, which has furnished some additional information designed to facilitate a proper appreciation of the proposals. At this stage, my right hon. Friend cannot say whether or when the Government may be able to introduce legislation on the subject.

Sir A. Gomme-Duncan

Whilst thanking my noble Friend for that Answer, may I ask if he would speed up in every way he can, particularly in view of the season?

Lord John Hope

Yes, Sir.
