HC Deb 17 December 1957 vol 580 c191
33. Mr. Malcolm MacPherson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to be in a position to reply to the Scottish Council, Development and Industry, on the subject of their memorandum on the reduction in defence work recently sent to him.

Mr. Maclay

I shall reply as soon as possible, but my consultations with my colleagues are not yet complete.

Mr. MacPherson

While I make no complaint about the right hon. Gentleman taking time to consider fully his reply, may I ask whether he will be in a position to communicate the general nature of his reply to this House?

Mr. Maclay

I think I should have to have notice of that question, because at the moment this is a matter of a letter between the Scottish Council and myself; but I will certainly consider what the hon. Member suggests.
