In view of the fact that this will not contribute either to the fighting or the administrative proficiency of the troops concerned, is this not a case of unnecessary Government expenditure which could be avoided?

I cannot accept the first part of my hon. Friend's statement. My hon. Friend will appreciate that we should in any case have had to provide new cap badges for the thirty regiments which were amalgamated.

The Worcestershires are not being amalgamated.
