§ 38. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the small number of graduates produced by the present educational system in Sierra Leone and inadequate educational standards generally, what further consideration is being given to educational development, particularly in view of the increasing need of well-qualified Africans in Sierra Leone.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe Sierra Leone Government are to give educational development the highest priority. As the hon. Member will know from my reply to his Question on 16th July, a statement of policy is to be put before the House of Representatives and I would suggest that he awaits this.
§ Mr. SorensenDoes the hon. Gentleman appreciate that, unfortunately, there have been somewhat poor results so far? In those circumstances, can we be assured that steps are being taken, or proposals are to be applied, which will improve that situation?
