HC Deb 30 April 1957 vol 569 c18
29. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Labour if he will consider incorporating in future legislation provisions designed to ensure that industrial employees shall be entitled to receive longer periods of notice of termination of employment than is at present the case, such periods being related to the extent of their service for the particular public authority, company, firm, or person giving such notice; and if he will make a statement.

The Minister of Labour and National Service (Mr. Iain Macleod)

This matter is one aspect of the subject raised in a Written Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Esher (Mr. Robson Brown) relating to contracts of service for industrial workers, to which I replied on 8th April, 1957. I am not at present able to add to that reply.
