HC Deb 17 April 1957 vol 568 cc1927-8

Motion made, and Question proposed,That this House, at its rising Tomorrow, do adjourn till Tuesday, 30th April.—[The Prime Minister.]

Mr. Marcus Lipton (Brixton)

I wish to make a suggestion which, I hope, will find favour with the Leader of the House. It is a job that he might find it possible to do before we rise for the Easter Recess. I think it is one which will have the approval of all hon. Members. It is that on our behalf he should send a good will message to Sir Anthony Eden, expressing our hope for his speedy recovery.

Hon. Members

Hear, hear.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

I should like to express the gratitude of my right hon. and hon. Friends and myself for the very kind words which the hon. Gentleman has spoken. I shall certainly see that that message is conveyed.

Mr. Hugh Gaitskell (Leeds, South)

I should like to associate myself with what my hon. Friend has said, and, speaking for the Opposition, to say that we should be very happy if such a message were to be sent to Sir Anthony Eden.

Question put and agreed to.
