asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is now able to announce the date to be appointed for the starting of the conversion grants scheme under the White Fish and Herring Industries Act.

Mr. Godber

Yes, Sir. Subject to the enactment of the Bill, my right hon. Friend and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland intend to make an Order prescribing 17th April, 1957, as the appointed day.

Mr. Duthie

Will my hon. Friend accept my assurance that the statement he has just made will be received with much approval by the section of the industry concerned?
