HC Deb 15 April 1957 vol 568 c1522
1. Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Attorney-General if he will request the Law Reform Committee to study and report upon the desirability of changing the law relating to printed conditions in contracts between commercial concerns and individual members of the public.

The Attorney-General (Sir Reginald Manningham-Buller)

The Law Reform Committee is at present fully engaged on the consideration of other topics recently referred to it by my noble and learned Friend the Lord Chancellor. My noble Friend will consider this subject among others when he next comes to select a question for reference to the Committee.

Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

Is my right hon. and learned Friend aware that, according to my information, one division of this Committee is occupied only in the rather profitless pursuit of the modification of the rule in Chapman v Chapman and would very much welcome a more widespread and wide-appealing topic such as this, as appears from the correspondence in The Timesrecently?

The Attorney-General

That being the case, the Committee may have something to look forward to.
