HC Deb 11 April 1957 vol 568 c1296
46. Mr. H. Fraser

asked the Prime Minister whether he can now announce Her Majesty's Government's policy for financial restitution to some 2,500 British subjects, who having been expelled from Egypt have suffered a total loss of assets in that country, and for whom Her Majesty's Government has so far been able to do nothing except at subsistence level.

The Prime Minister

It is the policy of Her Majesty's Government to secure from the Egyptian Government restoration of those assets in full, or alternatively complete compensation. The Foreign Office is collecting information about these assets and expects that this task will be complete in about four or five weeks.

Mr. Fraser

I thank my right hon. Friend very much for that Answer.
