HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 c1135

Considered in Committee [Progress, 9th April].

[Sir CHARLES MACANDREW in the Chair]

AMENDMENT OF THE LAW

Question again proposed, That it is expedient to amend the law with respect to the national debt and the public revenue and to make further provision in connection with finance, so, however, that this Resolution shall not extend to making amendments of the enactments relating to purchase tax so as to give relief from tax, other than amendments making the same provision for chargeable goods of whatever description and amendments reducing any of the several rates of tax generally for all goods to which that rate applies (and for which the rate is not altered in pursuance of some other resolution of the Committee of Ways and Means).
