HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 c1117
9. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what improvements he will authorise on the main Cardiff—Wenvoe—Llantwit major road to meet the increased traffic caused by the erection of the Leys Power Station, Glamorgan.

Mr. Nugent

My right hon. Friend is considering a proposal by the Glamorgan County Council to improve part of Route B.4265 west of Weycock Cross and will reach a decision as soon as he can. This would help traffic to and from Cardiff Airport and works and factories in the neighbourhood as well as the Leys Power Station.

Mr. Gower

While thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask that he will represent to his right hon. Friend, in assessing the importance of this issue, that the existing road is inadequate, not only for the new power station at the Leys and also for Cardiff Airport, but also for the great cement-producing area of Rhoose and Aberthaw?
