§ 29. Mr. Callaghanasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what types of oily water separators now available will be regarded as efficient under the 1115 regulations requiring dry cargo ships to fit them by 30th June, 1958.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe regulations have not yet been made. I am still discussing them and the consequential arrangements with the shipping industry and the separator makers.
§ Mr. CallaghanWhen does the Minister think he will be able to make the regulations? Is he aware that there is a certain trepidation about the fact that the time is running out and that there are a lot of repairs to be done to ships before this scheme can be put into effect?
§ Mr. WatkinsonI agree. I know the hon. Gentleman's great interest in this subject, and I am with him in this matter. I want to make the regulations as soon as possible.
