HC Deb 31 October 1956 vol 558 c1414
30. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will draw the attention of other Colonial Governments, particularly that of Singapore, to the housing project in Hong Kong whereby co-operative groups of over 12 persons can apply for loans at 3½ per cent. interest to be repaid over 30 years.

Mr. Maclay

Similar projects are operating in other Colonial Territories, including Singapore, and the principles are well known. I do not think I need bring the Hong Kong project specially to the attention of Governments.

Mr. Rankin

May I thank the right hon. Gentleman for that reply? [Interruption.] Why not? He is doing right.
