HC Deb 24 October 1956 vol 558 c779
Mr. Walker-Smith

I beg to move, in page 34, line 23, at the end, to insert: (3) A person shall be disqualified for being appointed, or being, a member of the tribunal so long as he is a member of the Commons House of Parliament, or of the Senate or House of Commons of Northern Ireland. This Amendment is self-explanatory. It is necessary because membership of the Tribunal constitutes the holding of an office of profit under the Crown, and being an office of a judicial character, it should not be held by an elected Member of Parliament.

Amendment agreed to.
