HC Deb 27 November 1956 vol 561 c219
32. Mr. Bottomley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportion of the revenue in percentage and value is raised by tariffs of one kind or another.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I assume that the right hon. Gentleman is referring to protective Customs duties. The yield in the financial year 1955–56 from these duties was of the order of £90 million, representing just under 2 per cent. of the total net receipts from taxes.
