HC Deb 15 November 1956 vol 560 c1126
39. Mrs. Braddock

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the report of the inquiry into the treatment of prisoners at Liverpool Prison can be expected.

Mr. Deedes

My right hon. and gallant Friend expects to receive the report early next month.

Mrs. Braddock

Can the hon. Gentleman say why it has been so long, particularly in view of the fact that there was no rebutting evidence at all given and that the only evidence which they had to accumulate was that given by the prisoners themselves? Is he aware that no warder gave any sort of evidence against the evidence given by the prisoners?

Mr. Deedes

I can tell the hon. Lady that the inquiry lasted 19 days and that the promise given to publish the report stands.
